Shelly Lipton

Shelly is a marketing, operations, and business development executive with a proven track record leading technology companies from startup to established enterprises, utilizing a blend of integrated business planning, strategic marketing, and the formation of cohesive teams. He is an experienced entrepreneur keen on analyzing growth opportunities and introducing strategic and tactical solutions that drive performance.


Shelly began his career in market research and account management at Y&R where he honed his skills in all aspects of 'commercial persuasion' enabling the complete integration of sales & marketing campaigns employing a full array of online, offline, social and mobile communication channels.


Under his leadership, LCG (the first company he founded) was the first-place recipient of the CBS Recognizing Excellence Awards for an innovative direct marketing program. Shelly received the Crystal Prism Award from the American Advertising Federation for his contribution to social marketing and the Direct Marketing Association awarded Shelly with the Marketing Professional of the Year.


After a ten-year ride solidifying marquee business partnerships, LCG was acquired by Publicis Groupe (Euronext Paris: PUB), a global marketing services conglomerate.

With a continued thirst for business building, Shelly founded Community Direct, constructing a unique mobile enterprise-marketing platform, which was sold to a private equity firm. Five years later Grandparents.com came calling, where as CMO, Shelly grew the online audience of tenfold, employing a mix of digital/social marketing as well as DRTV, corporate communications and content syndication deals. In 2009 these efforts were recognized with an American Marketing Association EFFIE award. Shelly also developed B2B strategies to elevate interest in the marketplace among advertisers, which included an ethnographic video and a landmark whitepaper featured in the New York Times and on CNN, which became the foundation of sales efforts.


Shelly co-founded GrownUpMarketing (GUM), a boutique consulting firm to help emerging digital, mobile, and social media companies craft marketing strategies to tell their unique stories in order to effectively position them in the marketplace.


Shelly is a mentor to countless executives and advises a growing portfolio of start-up CEOs. He also sits on the Board of Second Chance Toys, a charitable organization founded by his daughter.
